Nose shows nice fruit and herbalness from the Cab Franc. I like it.
palate, smooth, earthy/herbal (Cab Franc), nice complexity and flavors. This is very well done and quite nice. Finish is very decent and shows nice complexity. Overall a very nicely done Bordeaux blend from the Right bank, dominated by Cab Franc. Would buy again.

Earthy, leafy, and very funky upfront, clearly dominated by Cabernet Franc. It took almost two hours in the decanter for this to settle down and start showing some fruit. In addition to the leafiness, there were notes of red currant, spicy raspberry, tart cherry, and chocolate. Plenty of acid and tannin to support another 3-5 years of cellaring. In spite of its Old World style, it just lacks the finesse, depth, and balance to make it great.

The appearance is very dark and not translucent in the glass. Aromas of dark cherry, coffee and garrigue on the nose. Very soft on the initial palate with black cherry and some raspberry flavors. The finish is quite long with coffee/black licorice flavors lingering for a while. Tannins seemed quite mild to me and I don't see aging this longer. Overall, not bad, but for a hermitage style this is not similar to a French bordeaux.

Drank side by side with Boushey Vineyard, the Artz was more old world in style, a bit leaner, higher acid, would probably benefit from more bottle aging.

Dark fruit, coffee and brier with lots of dry smooth integrated but slightly green tannins. Medium to full bodied. Old world leaning and cab franc dominant. Really nice expression.

Friends and I tasted this at the winery on 4/13/13. It had a very reserved bouquet of blackberry, black cherry, mocha and spice aromas. The palate was structured and nuanced with flavors of blackberry, black cherry, mocha, licorice, herb, spice and minerals.

Deep Purple color. Cab Franc and Merlot with a bit of Cab Sauvignon. Still a bit tannic and ready to drink. Long, smooth finish. Notes of black fruit.

Bright red fruit and tannins for structure. Needs about an hour to open up. Vibrant and fresh.
