  • Good, and drinking pretty nicely. It's not your average Syrah, the brown sugar flavor and hint of sweetness that typifies this varietal. Medium acidity, tannins have mostly subsided.

  • Not sad this was my one and only bottle. Fine, but not that interesting. Certainly a good baseline for what this grape.

  • I think I know where this is trying to go, it has some Northern Rhone -style to it with a very appealing bacon fat finish. But it comes across a little clumsy, and if it isn't one-dimensional (and it isn't), I'd say two-dimensional is as far as it gets. Could use a bit more cut, more earth, more finesse, more something to make it more memorable. Still, by the glass, at a bar, with a hamburger, you'd be pretty happy.

  • not very good. average at best. My wife, who loves Zin, pronounced it "too fruity."

  • First night seemed very restrained. Blackberry, some blueberry with good acidity and fine tannins. On the second night it had opened up considerably, pleasingly filling out what had been a slightly hollow mid-palate. Definitely needs more cellar time IMO.

  • At $20 from Garagiste, this wine was a steal. A well heeled, 13.8% alc. Syrah. that is showing well and has life to go.

Color: Classic syrah inky purple. Cloudy goodness, likely unfiltered.
Nose: reminiscent of cool climate; Bacon fat, brine, black fruits, earth
Palate: Restrained, elegant, and mouth watering. No fruit bomb here, nor overly acidic or tannic - well balanced.
Front palate has vibrant black fruit and mineral notes. Mid palate has more depth, texture, earthiness and modest structure. The finish is long & lingering, in a pleasing way.

    (testing new Cellartracker tools.....hmmmm.)
The wine looks Inky colored. It smells like Blackberry, Black currant (cassis), Forest floor, Mineral, Mushroom, Black Pepper, and Meaty.
