  • Drank from my father's cellar (ok the bottles under the basement stairs). Cork split and half pressed into bottle. Medium shoulder. No real sediment. Garnet to brick color. Flat nose, some earth/loam, hints of fruit, mostly cherry. Taste of bitter cherry, tart rhubarb. Sweet and tannic with very little fruit. Perhaps a little smoke or graphite. Longish, a bit astringent finish that's kind if pleasant and warm. In sum: a wine that is still alive but very well past whatever prime it once had. Interesting as example to taste, but certainly not an event in itself.
