Just outside the given drinking window, but this vintage still has a few years left in the tank. Ruby red. Spicy red fruits, excellent length, nice and balanced. As a no 2 level wine (below the original Musar, but above the Aana and Jeune), this is a lovely vintage.

Having drank recently the Chateau Musar Jeune I was delighted to sample this fine 2007 vintage. Beautiful Bordeaux-esque wine - very smooth, ripe fruits - very mineral on the finish.

Drunk in a tasting comparison with a 2005 Musar. Decanted for an hour. Both good wines, but this was thinner without the flinty edge which is characteristic of Musar. That said, it's still a great wine and represents good value from a second wine.

Non-blind. Had immediately with IRS, Hemmavid. Impression: very good PLUS High strung tonight with tense acids but incredibly delicious. Elegant or thin (depending on your taste) with a good mouth flow. Only btl to be finished tonight. IRS liked very much!

Just a tad lifted red fruit nose with dusty cedar, baking spice, minty herbaceousness and a touch of mushrooms. Medium bodied palate with dusty tannins, juicy acidity and ripe fruit. Face powder, liquorice and medicinal herbs. Good length. Nice stuff.

Last minute choice to go with this 'Moorish' dish, decanted.
The wine looks bright purple with Garnet colored edges. The legs are Med Fast. It smellsa bit like Raisin, and a slight freshness Cool/Menthol. It tastes like Raisin, Cherry, and warming. The body is Medium. The wine has Silky texture. The wine finishes Medium. To be honest the 2nd mouth full was much better than the 1st.

Non-blind. Had immediately. Impression: very close to wow and greatness! Balanced, fruity, lightly bretty and appealing nose. On the palate, this wine is superbly well knit to be an everyday drinker extraordinaire. Fine fruit, racing acids, M tannin and a hint of brett to give it gravitas and personality. Wow! I thought at first that I would not be interested in Hochar's bulk wine. But, Matt proved my preconceptions wrong. Again. What a treat!

Bright cherry on the nose, somewhat volatile esters, but some christmas spice which goes pleasant against the acidity and medium bodied style of this wine. Perhaps I would not save it as long as a Ch Musar, but I though it went excellent with a stew I made basically with some leftover entrecote, garlic, roasted peppers, carrots, celery, chanterelles, some of the same wine, chervil, cumin, basil, potatoes, olives, whole grain dijon mustard.

Easy to access with some finesse. Quite spicy, is it cinamon? I could tell they were at the end of the bottle but I do not know how long it had been opened. Note: This wine does not have the same sweetness as the traditional red Musar.

As the cork was popped it would have been rude not to taste. I enjoyed it enough to bring home and have further enjoyed this evening. Baby Musar really does fit the bill. Lovely fruit and balance, fine wine at the pric. I'll be buying some more.

Nice spiced aromas of figs and forest fruits with a palate of dark cherries and a little herbiness. It has a surprisingly smooth and gentle finish that lasts a good while. Excellent value for money.

Much improved in recent years, this Hochar has a Musar-lite palate - lots of cherries and mulchy forest floor with a smooth palate. Lacks a touch of tannic bite - 1 or 2 glasses is okay, but to go well with food this needs a touch more grip. Decent enough - wouldn't rush to this one again though, to be honest.

Aromas of figs and dates and on the second day perhaps cedar wood and cassis. Quite a complex flavour which is powerful yet smooth and lingers well. Hint of cherry and food brought out flavours of dried herbs (especially thyme). On day 2 the flavours were much simpler.

Nice spicy and rounded wine. Not unlike Something from Tuscany mixed with a Grenache based Rhone. Lovely.
