I am always so impressed with this wine. A viscous, mouth coating texture with aromas of petrol and flavors of ripe apple with a touch of pepper. Very rich.

Continues to impress. Rich fruit, dense and complex wine, ripe apples, fine peppery spice, great acidity, mineral core, still tastes young and due to its richness I believe this should hold well another 5 and maybe even 10 years. - 92 points

Continues to be one of my favorite Grüner Veltliners in my cellar. Great depth and power but also enough freshness and lots of classy Veltliner flavors. - 92 points

Big, powerful, well made, even interesting but I didn't love it in any way. Light, pretty yellow. Intense nose that was both expansive and singular. Yellow apple, white peach, white pepper and a little too much heat. It did keep me coming back and searching. After 4 hours of air it kicked ass with a Cowgirl Creamery Mt Tam.

Another nice bottle, though with the wrong food pairing it didn't shine as bright as recent bottles. Enormous density and great acidity, baked apple fruit and a bit of beginning oxidation with this bottle. A very ripe style but with great freshness. Unique wine. - 91 points

Another terrific bottle of Nigl's Grüner Veltliner Privat 2010. Not much to add to my last tasting note except this seemed to show a bit more sweetness than the previous bottle. Elegantly combines power and freshness. Screwcap. - 93 points

The GV Privat 2010 is simply a spectacular wine by Nigl. Bursting with apple flavors and lots of peppery spice, extremely powerful with 14.5 % abv, but always stays so fresh, racy and nervy due to a brilliant acidity and minerality and there is only a little botrytis induced honey flavored sweetness in here compared to many Austrian white wines from 2008 and 2009. This is very dry, powerful, fruity, mineral and just full of tension and excitement. Probably the best Grüner Veltliner I have tasted yet. Hard to resist it now, but also has a long life ahead. - 94 points
