Wow, what a great bottle! Was expecting it to be good, but didn't expect it to be this good. Has Bordeaux-like qualities and is easy to drink. Great food wine. No decant needed, unless you want it off the sediment. Paired perfectly with homemade gumbo.

What a tremendous bottle of wine. Agree with the last two reviews minus the part about tannins. This wine, or at least our bottle, has mellowed to the point that decanting wasn't necessary. Just a few minutes in the glass and it was essentially perfect to our palates. Probably just the extra time we gave it. We had it with steak, onions and mushrooms, and potatoes. Basically a perfect pairing.

On the nose: Smooth, tobacco & slight, dark cedar. On the palate: Again, very smooth - balanced. Hitting on all taste buds at the same time. A little tannic. I poured into a decanter and drank immediately, so maybe some decanting time will help. Dark plum and a little green banana. A little cedar box and tobacco (love it!) too.

Soooo... certainly not qualified to rate verdot varietal bottlings... of the 2 different I've had this year (my first two that I recall), this takes second place. That said, this is a very delicious bottle and I echo the sentiment that verdot varietal bottlings should get more consideration. I for one will be on the look out for great examples. Lots of sendiment in this one, filtering is a must so that the wine can be enjoyed without spitting out the chunks. Nice acidity, med- body, great bouquet and color. OK qpr

Deep purple color, with heavy tartaric crystallization on the cork and neck. Aromas of plums, cedar, and white pepper fold into powdered cocoa, dark berry, and light spice notes on the palate. Brooding and dense, yet with a silky texture, balancing acidity, and appropriate tannins. I have limited experience with this as a single varietal, but submit that it may be a mistake to contemplate Petit Verdot only in terms of a blending grape.

Great wine. Deep ruby color, great nose, still showing lots of fruit, and a smooth finish. I wish I had more.

a little tight on opening... but, as it opened up over 1-2 hours, beautiful wine... no rush
