  • 12% alcohol. Tasted half blind.

Still surprisingly youthful pale yellow color with subtly greenish highlights. The nose feels slightly closed but also very nuanced and attractive with light aromas of juicy golden apples, some honeyed richness, a little bit of petrol, light smoky mineral tones, a hint of something waxy and a touch of ripe citrus fruits. The wine is medium-bodied, crisp and somewhat developed on the palate with somewhat concentrated yet not particularly oily mouthfeel and intense flavors of steely minerality, very ripe Granny Smith apple, some peachy notes of stone fruits, a little bit of petrol, light zesty notes of key lime, a hint of wool and a touch of crunchy star fruit. The bracing acidity keeps the wine very fresh and structured. The mouth-puckering, crisp finish is long and precise, although the fruit flavors of ripe white peach and apple fade away rather quickly, leaving behind intense flavors of steely minerality, some petrol, a little bit of beeswax and hints of tangy salinity.

A beautiful, very high-strung and still surprisingly youthful Alsatian Riesling that shows a perfect combination of lean, mineral style and intense, fresh and precise fruit. Despite its 11 years of age, the wine shows very little sense of development, promising volumes of further cellaring potential. It's almost a shame this wine was opened this young. A beautiful example of how not all dry Alsatian Rieslings are super-ripe and concentrated blockbuster wines. Excellent value at 19,50€.
