A very nice Malbec with notes similar to my last tasting 2 years ago. Very concentrated dark fruit with velvety texture, notes of ganache, raspberry, dark cherry. The tannins are well integrated.

A very nice Malbec. Very concentrated dark fruit with velvety texture, notes of ganache, raspberry, dark cherry. The tannins are well integrated and I did not find the oak to be excessive. I suspect the drinking window extending to 2027 is too conservative.

deep red with ruby rim - effusive nose of dark fruit (blackberries) , chocolate, and white flowers - medium full mouth with high acid, moderate tannins - fairly long 15-20 sec finish with a aftertaste of bright red fruit - nicely complimented grilled pork chops that decreased the prominent acidity

2014 New York Wine Experience Trip; 10/14/2014-10/21/2014 (New York City, NY): This opaque crimson/ruby, heavily-extracted wine flaunts aromas and flavors of ripe blackberries, bittersweet chocolate, licorice and crushed rocks. With a backbone of fresh acidity and ample sweet tannins, it builds in the middle and shows no trace of alcoholic heat. Finishing long and mineral-laden, this is a wine which is delicious now but also has the structure to last for another 10+ years. Drink now-2025.

Septet wine-lovers 4th meeting in 2014 (at Arnoldo's): dark purple-black intense black fruits aromas, with vanilla-oak notes. full bodied, soft shallow tannins, black plum, graphite, mouth filling, good acidity, a very enjoyable round & whole Malbec. Excellent finish.

Almost black color, with red/pink hint on the rim. Nose starts out with dark cherries, dusty minerals, dried herbs, some perfumed/sweet flowers and warm roasted almonds. Taste follows the aromas from the nose, blueberries are dominating together with beautiful blackberries. Beautifully balanced Malbec with great structure and a dry long finish.

Small tasting note from a Store tasting of the majority of Catena's current lineup. Dark purple to black in color. This wine was decanted for about 2 1/2 hours according to the rep and it was still extremely tight. The nose showed black fruit, a little floral, minerality, and oak tones. The palate was similar with black plum, graphite, tons of minerality showing, and tannin. Didn't really show that well, but you could tell this needed years to really show its stuff, pretty similar to an 04 of this I had back a year ago that I thought was years away. Hold for at least 5 years, but would reccomend closer to a decade.

Dark red, cinnamon, spice, and menthol, still grippy tannins, tart cherry, cola, and pomegranate fruit flavors.

A fantastic malbec. Had it with grilled tenderloin. Will rate and describe it properly next time. Still young and lively.

I found this bottle showing to much oak. Beautiful dark Malbec fruit. This probably needs more time as other vintages have shown much better.

Big wine ... very young, still, and tight. Did not open up that much over 3 days, so I'd recommend waiting until 2015 at least to try this again.
