First time with this chateau and was impressive even though it was a off vintage. I like the aromatics and the wine was well integrated with well resolved tannins. Just that the finish was a little off the mark.

The dark rubis wine has been decanted for 1 hour. When it is poured in our glasses, no need to swirl, it was as if all flavours wanted to rush out straight to your nose, dark cherry, dried plum, liquorice, tabacco and tar fighting and pushing around wet earth, girolle, vanilla and cinnamon. I could not help but taste this liquid farandole immediately and the texture is surprisingly well-balanced for a poor vintage, with a perfect velvet feeling wrapping the tongue in a very long finish. This is my last bottle but I definitely need to find some other specimen.

Pomerol lunch in Austin: Proof of great wine from a bad vintage. Amazing color, still with some fruit, seems almost ageless to me, though I clearly can't imagine this improving, so I would drink up (unless needed for a birthday wine...

i report simply what happened and i have witnesses. tasted blind with the 85, 88, 89, 90 and 93. 93 was voted the least appealing as the vegetal taste was unappealing. the 92 was voted the best by a narrow margin over the 90. the 89 was third. about 14 people tasting and voting, most pretty experienced. perhaps the 89 and 90 were still too tannic?

Very nice nose. Although decanted for 1 hour, required more than 1.5 hours to open up. Body was lighter than hoped. Good "off" year wine and value for money.

Fully mature with a lovely complex nose. Slightly faded on the palate

Lunch at Chez Nous. A beautiful wine served among younger pomerols. Best nose of the afternoon, very floral with raspberries, tobacco, menthol.
