Was putting some stuff away in the cellar and stumbled upon this... one of those bottles that you keep telling yourself "I need to drink this", but forget about for 3 months. Well, I guess we forgot about it for a bit longer. From my last bottle though, I wasn't too worried... this vintage of Conundrum (when it was still owned by Caymus) was different from the following years, and is actually our favorite vintage for Conundrum. More golden in color, with subdued nose that started to show some citrus, marshmallow and spice after about 20 minutes. Interesting in the glass... we had it w/ a citrus marinated tilapia... quite spicy for a white, w/ a Rhone-esque feel (I don't think that is even a word). Nice fruit to balance, with citrus, grapefruit and some grass. Very nice summer white. We tried the '03 awhile back... they made the move to screwcap (good choice)... however, the quality of the wine has gone down the tubes. It was not the most complex to begin with, but the '00 and '01 were enjoyable... even the '02. The '03 was lousy.

Color was medium amber like a yellow light. Nose opens with caramel, lanolin and lemon.

limited nose. Nice balance between the veritals. Matched perfectly with a cracked crab and roasted seabass dinner

Solid offering. Grapefruit/Tangerine, a little too oaky for my taste, but very smooth nonetheless. Drinking about perfectly now.

Very rich, good balance, not too oaky, slightly exotic
