Color: light crimson with light rim Nose/palate: Tamarind, dried fruits, tobacco, sweet and fully integrated tannins. And fleeting notes of soy? Structure: medium minus acidity and tannins. Fruit almost no longer present. Alcohol: 11.5%
Pleasantly surprised that this still had something to give. Slow oxed for 24 hours to see how this would develop, but no amount of air was able to give this additional weight. But really not an issue. The notes mentioned above held on for about 6 hours after opening. I got as much as I could have hoped for in this bottle.

What wine was Robert Parker drinking? He rated this wine 75 in 1997. In 2019 it was simply spectacular. A clear 95 to start but it faded pretty quickly, so only a 94. A great wine. Well worth the 40 year wait.

Rustic, earthy, medium bodied and short, the wine lacks complexity and depth. Although there is a charm in the earthy red fruits, herbs, leaf and tobacco personality. This is not a wine for further aging. If you are sitting on any drink up.

Drank in St Emilion. Perfect bottle. Fill high into the neck. Consumed over 5 hours. Rich aromas of dark fruit, coffee, graphite, earth, tobacco and cassis. More dark fruit and with more air more coffee notes came out. Fully mature. Round with a medium finish. This started to fall off toward the end but for the middle two hours this was something.

Came from an estate sale, so good provenance, also nice and clean looking bottle. Cork looked very good, came out in two pieces though ( nothing spilt inside the bottle ).
Initial nose .... very good, nothing strange going on. Colour .... alarming at first ( however bad lighting ) but still some reddish colour to be spotted. Flavour & taste - very silky, smooth taste, almost velvet like. Still quite some flavour remaining inside, it easily held during over an hour.
Once again - but I'm enthusiast for older vintages - this wine hit bullseye for me !!!!

The Sampler (The Sampler, Angel, London): Light cherry red with definite bricking, this wine shows a slightly brown tinge. The nose is earthy. Minerals, leather and vegetal characters - no real fruit left. The palate shows sweet blueberries, lots of spice and a rather distasteful cheesy finish.

A rather low fill, high shoulder at best. Completely soaked cork. Mahogany color. Oxidized and barely drinkable.
