Deep ruby in colour, with some bricking. Lots of syrah notes on the nose now, with peppery plums, cherries and some garrigue notes as well. Very suptle on the medium-bodied palate: this is in a great place now, with a smooth texture (helped by the glycerin), lots of gamy flavours, cherry, bitter chocolate and lavender. Great QPR, and glad I waited on this (A-). Ready now and over the short term.

Consistent with previous notes. Nicely balanced wine that has a terrific QPR. This is why I love the "real" Rhone- fruity yet rustic without being over the top.

Deep, dark. Rustic, with tar, charcoal on nose. Bitter cherries with smooth finish. Nice stuff, I'd gladly drink this over similarly priced Aussie Rhone varietals.

Deep red, rich looking. Still youthful. Shiraz nose. Very bright and fruity - inky. Spicy mouthfeel. Rich. Cinammon. Delicious if a little tinny at the tail. Later the nose is creamy, spicy - a very fruity palate.

Deep red, youthful and rich. The nose is fruity, oakey and at the moment confirming that the wine is too warm. The palate is very rich and fruity - still quite tannic. After it had cooled down in the fridge the nose became more subtle, warm fruit and less oak. The palate is very smooth, rich, creamy - delicious.

Deep red, youthful and bright. The nose is spicy, syrah, berries and sherbet. The palate is a full, rich syrah taste, a touch dryer than a new world wine which helps it seems smoother. A long finish. Served next day a touch cooler, the fruit is prominent and delicious.

Ripe nose of black cherry is followed by a powerful blast of raspberry, iron, fig paste and chunky tannins on the finish. The wine is much more concentrated and dark than I expected and seems very primary. There is some heat that pervades the nose and midpalate, but perhaps this will integrate with age. Good QPR with great upside potential.

A trace of heat on the palate mars this otherwise excellent wine. I would have guessed Northern Rhone if it had been poured blind, as this tasted like a 100% syrah to me. Complex, earthy, and meaty, with loads of ripe, crushed dark fruit. Sexy, lush texture, and a strong, building finish. I'm not sure how this will age due to the high alcohol, but it's drinking beautifully now, and is a great value.

One of the better Rhones for the price. Excellent from start to finish. For whatever reason, it was 40% (original $20) off at my local wine store. I liked it be better than the 2003 Cuvee Mourre de Perdrix which was three times the price.

A typical enjoyable Southern Rhone wine.

Found several bottles of this buried in the cellar. Completely shot. Should have been drunk up 5 years ago.

Gone. Soy sauce & plum, but not the kind of thing you want to pour on roasted duck. Missed this one.

Ripe and ready. Glycerin, dark fruit, llicorice. Well balanced, if not subtle.

Could be me, but seems like we're past the peak. Fruit fading? No crisis, but put it on your list to drink up.

Fruit somewhat faded since last tasting. I think that this may have plateaued.

Initially, strawberries on the nose and palate. But the fruit dropped away quickly and what was left behind was rather shrill.

Good Rhone for the money. Nice nose with spice finish and moderate tanins. Rated 90 by Steve Tanzer.
