Even better the next day -- bumped up 3 points as it came together nicely without the tannic edge. Dark fruit and Montreal seasoning, pencil lead and earth. Really serious, interesting and really delicious.

Still going strong. Slow ox and had all that 2010 vintage tannin and acidity going on. Very dark fruited and muscular but did soften some in the glass. Nose was tight. Serious.

Had my last one in 2013..as I figured it has aged out, rounded and supple. PNP, terrific juice, dark, ripe and ready. No hurry, probably has a few good peak years to go..but I'd drink it now.

Splash decanted and then poured through an elk head aerator. Very lush and full bodied, with black pepper, bacon, violets backing up the big blackberry fruit. Great stuff, and drinking well. Drink now - 2020.

Wine went really well with mildly spicy chili. Dark color with black fruit. Soft and plump tasting yet spicy notes and ample acidity. Medium body. Short finish. Well made. Nice QPR.

Pop & poured. Lots of earth and pepper notes on the nose, backed by plum and blackberry. A touch of oak in there too. Really peppery on first sip, followed by juicy plum fruit, a zip of acidity and some chewy tannins. Finish is all fruit, and really making my mouth water. Nice wine, glad I have another couple bottles (as well as the 08 & 09) to follow.

can't get past the heat on the nose. quite unfocused, and mildly astringent. I'm finding that great Cali syrah is becoming harder and harder to find. The percentage of mediocrity out there is growing.

A really interesting, excellent syrah. The 14.7 alcohol content evident when first opened but blows away quickly. Decanted for two hours and then drank over three hours and it held up very well. Big, bold, inky dark, a great value for the $26 we paid.

Inky, teeth staining purple color. Thick without being syrupy. Very good. Detected just a hint of barnyard on the nose, but it fades quickly and leaves a trail of dark black fruit and spice. Plum, black cherry. Drink this one now-2016. No need to wait.

Deep purple, Wonderful nose of ripe fruit and a little spice. Blue berry and raspberry dominate the fore- and mid-palate. Just a little acidity to keep the fruit bright into the finish. Smooth tannins contribute to a long finish.

Decanted over an hour and drank over 3 hours, it did not phase it...this wine is young and tannic, austere might be a better word and needs a few more years to mature, on the second day it opened up much better, giving a glimpse of whats coming. A great nose and color, this thing will be a power house when it calms down and comes together. If this is softer than the o9' I'd doubt the o9 is drinkable!

Had an itch for a Syrah after weeks of Rosé, Whites with some assorted reds mixes in. Wasn't sure about opening this since my experience with the '09 was that they needed time. Different vintage different results.
This is a small production wine, 170 cases, from a vineyard at the base of Spring Mountain in St Helena. Warm climate but lots of afternoon shade allow it to develop a nice acid structure an some red raspberry notes. The only place I have seen this is at BP Wines in SH. Worth seeking out, especially if you are a Northern Rhone fan.
On pop n pour this had an incredibly bloody nose. Deep, dark, intense blood, iron and extracted fruit. Seemed a bit hotter than the 14.7 listed on the bottle but that blew off with air. The nose added a nice menthol and game note that wrapped around some nice tart blue and red berry fruit. Texturally is medium plus bodied and supported with good acidity and abundant tannins. Well structured and stuffed for a long life. Great that it shows so nicely at this young stage. Was exactly what I was pining for tonight.

Good. Not stellar. Nose of slight wildflower, roasted meats and blackberries. Full in the mouth. Juicy finish, but without any impressive flavors or colors. PJG: 89

I've enjoyed the first three bottles of the 2010 vintage very casually. Compared to the 2009 vintage, this wine is a bit softer and more approachable out of the gate and if tasted side by side will likely be the bottle that will appeal to the masses. Very enjoyable and pairs very well with grilled meats. I'll expand on my TNs after I give my remaining bottles a bit more time in the cellar.

Decanted 30 mins. could have used longer. Savory smoked plums and meat on the nose. Spring plum and pepper on the palate. Went very well with food, in my case grilled veal chops.

Smooth, juicy, the finish is long and dry. Something lacking, but may need food to bring to life. Not overly impressed at this price.
