Coming into a good drinking window. Nose shows peppery, raspberry and a meaty note. Palate is opening to show a pretty red fruit with white pepper and a smokey bacon note. The finish is satisfying.

rating may be enhanced by watching my Lightning knock the Rangers out of the playoffs last night, but this went nicely with Ribs, good body & depth, comparable to some of my favorite 2010s

Ready to go right out of the bottle. Very earthy, with mushroom and a touch of barnyard going on. Really has a sense of place. Nice tension and acidic balance. A lot of wine for the tariff here. Paired really nicely with dry spice rubbed ribs to counterbalance the richness.

A luscious Vacqueyras, 75% Grenache, 25% Syrah. Dark, inky. Nose was a bowl of black fruit, taste was likewise a full-bodied mouthful of dark fruit and raisin, with hints of earthiness. Medium finish. Went well with herbed/spiced Copper River Salmon and farro - the acidity in the wine matched the oiliness of the fish and the spice infused by the high temp cooking. The alcohol is 14.5%, but it and the tannins well-integrated - thoroughly well-balanced wine. Drink now, it is at its peak, but with the tannins it could go another year, but it might soften with aging, which I do not recommend.

Great ruby colour, open nose of moss and raisin, medium body, great balance nice long finish. Tannins are present in the finish so wine should continue to cellar well.

2 weeks in France; 4/14/2012-4/28/2012 (Provence and Dordogne): Sampled at the tasting room. Gorgeous, lifted, high toned blackberry liquor nose. Intense and super concentrated, with a panoply of black fruit delivered on a lazer beam of acidity. Finishes with ripe but dusty tannin. Excellent.
