Pnp; a bit of cork seepage noticed. Medium gold in colour. Nose of sweet peach juice, some quince, apricots and a touch of honey. There are sweet honeyed apricots and papayas with a touch of brown sugar on the palate. Medium bodied with a medium finish.

My bottle was drinkable, and somewhat enjoyable, though it seemed to me to be showing some TCA. Carboard/damp odors on the nose, the palate was cleaner, and quite pleasant, but, I have to assume, diminished from what it could have been without the cork issues.

Not sure if it's corked or dead, but definitely not drinkable. Tawny-coloured and tasting oddly of lobster bisque ... nice when it's lobster bisque but not when it's meant to be wine!!
lovely nose that is rich, sweet, interesting palate is rich, sweet, interesting with a very long but clean finish. Some of the reviewers here mention a waxy element and I see that but it in no way describes the flavor profile that stays with you for long after you finished the glass. The flavors linger on the palate like a wonderful memory. Really a nice wine. Acidity seemed right to me and there was a cleanness to the finish that says acids are right on the money. Would buy again.

Entering maturity. Orchard fruits giving way to compote. Some waxiness, some toffee notes (no hint of prem ox). Worried that structure is a bit lacking, and with primary fruit receding, that this wine may start feeling flimsier as it ages.

Dark reddish amber color. Unique nose opens with almonds, some intense solvent like aroma. Lots of honey drenched fruits including peaches, apricots, almonds and botrytis. Needs more time, will revisit tomorrow. Day 2: nose is the same as day 1. Tastes similar to day 1 with 1 exception. The Honey/nut/fruit flavor is more integrated. Reminds me of a candy bar I had growing up called Bit-of-Honey. Nice wine but hard to recommend at this price point. Hard to relate to all the amazing reviews. Either it is a difference of taste, the wine is a bit over the hill, or my bottle was not up to par.

Incredibly young right now - full of primary quince and apricot fruit smothered in honey with a touch of that Chenin wooliness. It's very rich, slightly sticky in the mouth, certainly tasty but very undeveloped and a little heavy - I'd have enjoyed this a lot more with a bit more acidity.

Clear with golden honey and amber color. Nose showed powerful honey notes, some raisin or dried fruit and a very faint nuttiness. The nose was amazingly fresh. The palate was full, crisp and juicy with peach fruits drizzled in honey. This was my last bottle and I am disappointed I tapped it. I think this could have evolved further. It was an awesome wine. I just wish I had more to experience its further development. 50+5+14+18+7

ridiculously rich bronze colored body. intensely rich and striking nose of slightly burnt/smoked red apple skins and rich pungent and slightly moldy honey. exceptionally rich, cloying, full-bodied and decadent on the palate. toasty red apples, cracker grains, concentrated honey, etc., with a robust and full botrytis character. very, very reminiscent of the la face cachee de la pomme ice ciders of quebec. mmmm... delicious noble rot.

A respectable showing but clearly outclassed by the 1990 Champalou Moelleux tonight. no hurry on this one, as it should get better with some addtl age.

Very elegant and balanced, with a background acidity that keeps everything in control and leaves you mouth clean and refreshed after every sip. It's dominated by white fruit flavours, with honey, caramel, and vanilla, all playing as an orchestra with no solist. At the end it's surely a great wine, but lacks that x-factor that extraordinary wines have.

A lovely nose. Straw, floral notes. The palate is a mix of honey and green apple. Botrytis is subtle at first and then overwhelming as this warms. A really nice wine.

Tasting at Domaine Baumard with Florent Baumard. Light yellow in color and smelling of cotton candy. Unfortunately a small amount of the mushroom smell I got on the '04 is showing up here as well. There is also a little fizz on the back of the palate. The balance of sugar and acid is better than the '04 but something odd is going on here. Judgment withheld.

I was traveling out of town and found this on a retailer's shelf. I am not familiar with the retailer so I bought a 375 to try. I am glad I did! Rich golden color with an AMAZING nose of ripe peach, mango, papaya and lychee that was accompanied by a hint of some almond. It had a creamy rich mouth feel with mango and peach liqueur flavors. It had a wonderful balance of sweetness and acidity with amazingly loooonngg finish. I was having some brie with it and thought it paired well. I am going back to the store to get all their remaining bottles.

18K golden color – probably deeper than I would have guessed. Nicely grapey with a hint of cheesy yeastiness. Interesting how a previous taster described this as the “new car smell” – I totally get that in this wine. The nose is penetrating and the smells are really deep. The wine is rich and thick on the palate – superbly balanced by fine acidity. The finish goes on and on. This really is a top notch effort – a wine I need to pay more attention to. This is very very good! I don’t know what will happen with time, but I love it now. (18.5)

Seattle Tasting Group does 'Go-to Wines' (Seattle, WA, USA): Wow, this is unctuous with a distinct "new car" smell and some slightly fishy notes. On the palate this shows amazing acidity and is fairly lithe for such a thick wine. The finish is long, long long.

I really enjoyed this -- mature, with rich golden color. Caramel, toffee, ripe peaches and clean, long, balanced finish.

Light honeyed apple, quince and apricot with a great acid balance. This wine is never syrupy and incredible QPR for me.

Judgement Day - 2001 Bordeaux vs. 2001 USA Cabernet Blends (Holiday Inn Chicago North Shore - Skokie, IL): The honeyed character of the wine is starting to emerge and add to the nice apple and pear flavors that are still vibrant. The acidity was a bit lower than I expected but the finish was long and the mouthfeel was silky. Very nice showing, but I'm thinking I would have liked it more with more acidity.

Very honeyed and wooly. Screaming of Chenin. I tended to prefer this in its youth, but I have a personal blindspot when it comes to Chenin with age.
