This is a pretty sophisticated wine that is still going down really well. Jammy black fruit on the palate, more than the aroma would lead you to believe, along with cherry, licorice and just a hint of bittersweet chocolate on the back end. Smooth round mouthfeel with soft tannins, at least after the copious amount of air I gave it. Better on day 2. Probably at its peak within the next few years.

Notes on day 2. Held up well overnight. Nose of muted fruit, damp earth Palate of cola, chocolate and more fruit than the nose would suggest: blackberry compote. Interesting and a bit different. Worth th $18 I paid.

A nose of dark fruits and spice, dark garnet in color. A medium to full bodied red blend, with blackberry, cassis, some sweet licorice and spice on finish. An interesting wine, good QPR. www.winelx.com

Remarkable balance and structure from a $17 bottle. Alternately cedar and oak frame the dark fruit with some spice on the back of the palate. I never would have guessed Argentina for this, nor would I have picked the Malbec out of the blend. You could easily guess Spanish blend or even young Bordeaux for this one if tasted blind.

A surprisingly good wine. Popped and poured. Nice dark color. Nice nose - not too strong, just good hints. Medium finish with well integrated tannins. For $15/bottle, worth buying again.

I was surprised by this wine- fruit forward dominated by dark fruit- but then a lovely long spice, tobacco, cedar mid palate- good structure all the way through and pleasant finish.

Full of dark earth flavors with smooth medium body. Surprised by the complexity. Medium finish. Excellent with food. Tastes of tobacco, licorice, plum, dark cherry. Good strength in the mid palette. I'm used to bright fruit and front presentation from this bodegas but this wine was a very pleasant surprise. UPDATE - second night the left overs were even better. Yummy!

Really nice Malbec which showed much more than just fruit. Earth and leather came into play towards the end. Great QPR.
