  • This wine is still tasting extremely good right now !! At Peak !!
The composite cork was perfect after over a decade in the bottle. I consumed this balanced Pinot Noir over two days. Deep ruby color with little to no oxidation, clarity medium. Aromas of pomegranate, cherry, and caramel. Flavors of cranberry, black cherry cola, rhubarb, and spice with a long finish. This used to be my least favorite of the Melville small lots, but is much better with age. Great fruit and acidity make a very balanced Pinot Noir from the Indigène Block on the estate Vineyard just in front of the winery in the Santa Rita Hill appellation of Santa Barbara County. Indigène block is planted exclusively to the Dijonnaise clone 115. This Pinot Noir is truly age worthy and has more years of life remaining. Fortunately, I still have two more bottles of this vintage remaining in my cellar to revisit in the next year or so. Great fruit and a great winemaking effort from Greg Brewer.

  • Delicious wine. Balanced softer tannins. The final glass was best the next evening.

  • Very characteristic Sta. Rita Hills pinot noir expression. Bright cherry with touch of raspberry flavors backed by firm yet soft tannin structure. Drinking quite lovely now.
