Dinner with the wine group (The Perennial, SF): Aromatic, dry, full bodied, medium-plus acid, medium-plus alcohol. A nice pairing with food, but it pales in comparison to the trimbach. 90

GV is one of the specialties of my friend Loek. This one wasn't bad at all, this one was even very good, with a very smooth and pure bouquet and surprisingly a whiff of caramel in the persistent midtaste. The aftertaste was very balanced.

Color: golden yellow Smell: Floral notes, ruby-red grapefruit, white pepper, and chalk Taste: Tropical fruits dominate the palate with a hint grapefruit linger on the palate. Overall: This is really intense...almost a bit "too big", almost. Full bodied, high acidity, med+ fruit, with an unctuous mouth-feel that lingers throughout the finish. Outstanding...but i'm not sure this is worth the cost.

What I didn't found in the Knoll GV Ried Schüt Smaragd '11, I found in this wine. A stony and also perfumed bouquet, body, still dry, very pure and with a superb balance.

Very powerful and dense. Even with its power, I thought this had really nice balance. Pichler's M's can really get big and ballsy, but this was more in line with my tastes. A serious Gruner.

alcohol is noticeable, fruit is deep but feels over extracted. well made but overall not my cup of tea.

Awesome wine with great minerality and complexity. Kept improving in the glass.
