  • Glad I kept a bottle of this for a few more years. It has turned into a really lovely Malbec, with pure blackberry flavor and (now) well-integrated spicy, toasty notes from the barrel aging. Lovely Malbec, if not all that memorable.

  • I brought this up at cellar temperature and drank it fairly soon thereafter without decanting. Big mistake. It was very closed and not terribly enjoyable to me (although my wife liked it right away). It improved markedly after being exposed to air, and was very good after a few hours. By the next evening, its character had totally changed, and it exuded a very mellow mixture of dark fruit and sweet(er) oak. I think it would be best to decant this young wine about 2 hours before serving and then see how it changes as you finish the bottle. It is very cleanly made and quite a nice effort overall. Would be great with marinated steaks, but we had it with bolognese and it was pretty decent alongside.
