Deep garnet color. Musky cherries, fennel, baking spice, minerals on then some on the nose. Fruit has subdued and is balanced by savory flavors and some well integrated tannins and acid through the finish. One more of these and will open in a couple years. Drank with grilled veal chops, roasted romanesco and salad.

Medium garnet with a slight browning and no sediment to speak of. At a nice stage showing earthy cherry notes and Burgundian minerality. Just a tad thin and finishing short. Will last for a number of years more.

Good color, very dark and ruby. Minearal, some red fruit and cherry hiding in the wine. Spice: licorice and clove mostly and a little tobacco leaf on the finish. A little complex. Very closed, even after four hours in the decanter the wine has not relaxed a bit. The tannins have good grip and the wine has nice structural elements. A vin de garde. 88-91 pts.

chronicle: Grt. swt baking spice; pie crust; sweet musk, sweat, leather, exotic spice; BEAUT. bouquet, but mid pal. is hollow, although not complaining drinking 1/2 the bottle here! Shorter fin, fine t’s, nice cherry component. More is bod better.

2005 Burgundy (Wine Exchange in Orange, CA): Medium violet red. Soily but leaning toward the higher tones. Lively in the mouth; there's an impression of marked lightness and perhaps even a lack of flavor, but the structure is integrated in such a lovely way that this is hard to resist.

Nose of earth and red fruit. Medium-full bodied, red & black fruit. Long finish. Could stay in the cellar for a few more years.
