  • This wine was in a perfect place tonight. It was one of those "finds" that you pull out of the cellar when searching for a different bottle, in tonight's case a Brunello to match with an Italian dish my wife was preparing for my cousin and her husband. I figured this is a "thirsty" crowd and needed a wine to serve prior to the BdM.
This was a simple pop'n pour and it was so smooth and seductive. An aromatic nose of fresh organic compost and dark fruits. A silky feel on the palate in a feminine way and a nice lingering finish. It out-shined a 2010 Talenti Brunello that I decanted for hours before serving with dinner.

  • Raw button mushroom, lift and freshness, black fruit, alcohol, hints neutral wood. Still seems tight, tannic, firm underlying acidity making your mouth water. Fruit profile leans towards fresh crunchy black fruit, bush berries. Good density here but, acidity cuts straight through it. Not as enjoyable as prior vintages which had more core fruit. Curious to see if this will flesh out over the next few years. Don’t think theres enough fruit here to mellow the acidity over time and it might be time to start cracken them open. Enjoyed with grilled beef and purchased upon release, stored accordingly and served at 60-65. Drinking window now – 3 years…Na zdrowie

  • Flawlessly delicious juice. This is France with place and presence. You can taste every step of the journey from bright, deep notes of burberries, cherries, lavender to the wine cellar oak, tannins present. A drinkable passeport.

  • Liked this one a lot, needed time in the decanter, 6 hours and some sips later this was so good, well integrated, much smoother than the previous one I had.

  • Definitely appears to be past its prime. No rating on this one.

  • This was much better on the second day. The fruit here has faded and while the oak has started to integrate, it is still fairly dominant and presented as unbalanced on pnp. With a day of air, the fruit was able to emerge a bit, although there is still a lot of oak. I don't know if you would call this a dumb stage, but here is hoping that this gets better. Right now a bit middling and feel that this was much better on release.

  • Full notes of plum and cherries with hints of nutmeg and cinnamon. 14.5 alcohol extremely well integrated. Little heat although overall impression of wine a bit dull or muted at the margin. Can't tell if this is alcohol or over prime window of drinking.

  • Syrah, Grenache, Mourvèdre

    Recommend, excellent value
Upon opening, the nose screamed mourvedre, wet leather, tar, furry funk and garrique/ dried field herbs. After an hour the syrah fruit shown bright, with primary red cherry. Mourvedre notes faded to the background. Very nice wine, evolving nose. Palate medium weight with good acidity and noticeable tannins in the background. Red cherry & black current, tar/gravel, dried herbs all played well off each other. Alcohol at 14.5% well integrated
Day 2 – wine held up nicely, with primary red cherry showing
Consumed at 60-65 with grilled lamb this was an excellent match. Purchased from retail store and stored accordingly. Drinking window now-7 years…Na zdrowie

  • Dense, tarry, a bit murky. Seems less ready than last bottle a year ago. Perfectly sound bottle with concentrated fruit at the core, but hard to say whether it's more a wine of the future or of the past.

  • Inky black juice, full of well integrated oak and Syrah, Mourvèdre. Notes of plum, blackberries, hints of tobacco. Wine benefitted from some time to unwind. Don't we all?

  • Oak was much more integrated and less pronounced from last bottle. Bottle shock from transport? Otherwise consistent from last note.

  • Did a pop'n pour of this last night for a glass before heading out to dinner. My impressions were this is a rustic, chewy wine with some real character. Paula took her first sip and it did not appeal to her initially. However, after dinner we sampled it again having left the bottle open and some air time opened the wine revealing some nice spice, cocoa and dark fruit. It will be fun to watch the other 3 bottles evolve as there is no rush to drink these.

  • Abbreviated notes. Primary impression of this wine was that it was heavily oaked although it was surprisingly integrated and balanced upon opening. Over time, however, wood seemed to predominate (especially on day two). Unanswered question to me whether this is a young drinker or whether oak will fade with better showing for fruit (which seems possible given that it is 2007).
