Where do we start. Its fresh. Its complex and so fresh on the finish. Cant believe its this old. Long balanced and very elegant. Seriously contemplative wine. Regal. Drink now.

Pinot best bottle (@Garbe, Stuttgart-Plieningen): Glass: Riedel Sommelier Burgundy Popped and poured. Clear, intense youthful ruby color. Nose is medium intense, fully developed, nice mixture of iron/blood, soil, fruit and smoke. Unfortunately the palate cannot keep up with the nose. It has some bitter notes on the short finish and a rather shallow mouthfeel. Definitively past peak

Pale garnet core, wide mahogany rim with distinct orange hue at edge. Medium + intense ripe strawberry pinot fruit, attractive development evident on spicy overlay. Mellow and attractive. Dry, medium + acidity and low/medium resolved tannins. Nice weight on the palate with ripe mellow strawberry fruit, attractive savour, spice and some gamey hints. Notes of iron and earth emerging on a good length, satisfying finish. Excellent mature burgundy, well balanced with attractive flavours. Drinking well now, should hold for at least 3-5 years.

Morey St Denis Offline (Angelus, Bayswater, London): Fresher, crisper than the Lécheneault. Quite taut. Good but it lives up to the A/C name on the finish. ****

Lots of Morey - UK Wine Pages Morey St. Denis Offline (Angelus, London): Lovely restrained red fruit and spice character, pleasingly lean with gently spicy fruit on the palate, earthy notes, and then some not unattractive dry tannins on the good length finish. A very good 94.
