The little bit of fruit remaining hints that these might have been pleasant at some time, but I waited too long: both remaining bottles from my cellar had gone over. Bouquet of plastic. Both had some sweet fruit remaining, but more vinegary. Poured them out.

Drinking very well right now. Classic Napa cab with nice dark fruit. Good backbone and nice finish that had some lift. Lacking in complexity for me. Nice QPR

Great nose on this one -- maybe a touch of oxidation though? darker fruit, some blueberry. smooth & rich finish. Plenty of heft but not all that tannic. Surprisingly good for a basic napa cab.

Decanted for two hours; light sediment. Nice cherry red color. Black cherry and vanilla on the nose. Medium-bodied juicy black cherries and strawberries on the palate with ample acids and light tannins. Medium length finish has some heat. Probably will improve over the next two to three years.

While smooth and easy drinkable it has a bit too much fruit sweetness at this point. Medium tannins gives it some structure for hope of improvement over the next few years.

Solid wine... full flavor profile, nice dark fruits, light tannins. Was ready to drink now... but appears to have the structure for a few more years... though I would not expect significant improvement. Good QPR where it is now.

Napa Valley Wine and Food Excursion 2013; 9/30/2013-10/5/2013 (Napa Valley, California): "Adaptation" is the label used by Odette Estate Winery (a Plumpjack property) for wines made from purchased grapes while the Odette estate vines (and wines) mature. This deep ruby wine delivers aromas and flavors of red currants, cranberries and dried herbs on both the nose and palate, with an accompanying note of green leafiness. Medium-bodied, fresh and with medium-weight, dusty tannins, it progresses to a middle palate where the "green" element is accentuated. A whiff of alcoholic heat (14.6%) is noted on the medium-length finish. Certainly somewhat disjointed at this point, this wine may benefit from short-term cellaring. Drink 2015-2020.

disagree that this is ready to go;some bitter tannins on the midpalate even after being open for 3 hours.there is tart strawberries when the tannins settle;vanilla at the beginning lost as this is being written at 3 hrs.;to be decided if this is a rebuy or not

Classic NAPA cab. From Stags Leap, and it shows. As WineAccess wrote - silky, juicy and finely homed. Amazingly drinkable for a wine 5-6 years before recommended drinking. Luscious!

We had stopped in Odette/Adaptation not long after they opened last year, and when they appeared to still be getting their act together in the tasting room. So we tasted a few of their offerings, bought a bottle of the Cab almost as an afterthought, and quietly filed the bottle away. What a shock when we opened it over our Thursday evening dinner. Only a few minutes needed sitting in the glass for it to open up, and then - Wow, this is great. Beside the two of us, the rest of our family is not particularly fond of heavy-end Cabs, so we never serve them at holiday parties, etc. This bottle, I'm quite certain, would have been welcomed by everyone in terms of being a genuinely solid Cab but not over-burdening for folks who prefer lighter reds as a rule. With the Plumpjack heritage, I should have been paying closer attention. We'll know to do so the next time we're out there!

Improves -- deepens, balances and gets more complex -- over three days. Tobacco and some mint on the finish. Finely grained tannins. Really good QPR.

My note of 12/31/2015 still seems appropriate.

I agree with Bob from the prior review. Solid with potential, but too much fruit and needs some more time.

Rich red fruit with well blended flavors. Strawberry and red cherry, maybe a little caramel. Interesting wine. Muted finish.
