A little past its peak. It's lost a lot of fruit and it'd nice savory streak. Still, it's smooth, creamy, and mellow and paired perfectly with meatloaf.

Decanted 2 hours prior to dinner of seared BBQ pork cutlets, roasted sweet potato, and grilled asparagus. This wine paired perfectly with the sweet and smokey BBQ sauce, and was much better with food. Aromas and flavors are blending nicely, with tons of black fruit, plums, and currant, a good, full, sweet and savory palate, extracted yet not jammy, with hints of herbs and spices throughout. The finish is still a little dusty without food. Simple, refined, and expressing terroir very nicely. Drink now - 2020.

Light-medium body with simple black fruit flavor and soft finish. Nothing too complex or interesting, but an easy-drinker that's good when socializing with friends.

Improving my score from last bottle. Had much more depth, clarity, and especially earthy rusticity than before. The finish was 30-seconds plus with nice, juicy acidity. Perhaps food pairing made the difference, this time with spice-rubbed, BBQ grilled chicken, baked beans, sweet potatoes, rice, and salad.

Decanted for 1.5 hours and paired with grilled pork chops off the grill, broiled veggies, and rice. Thin, round, soft, Merlot-type Cab. Very delicate and smooth but not at all complex. I guess this is what a rustic, mountain cab tastes like when highly extracted? Fruit profile was extremely hard to pin down other than plums. But overall, body stands out as balanced and well made. Not at all my style but definitely a non-offensive crowd-pleaser. Versatile with many foods. Drink before 2016.

Laurel Glen Dinner (Naha, Chicago): Deep garnet color. Opens with notes of vanilla and red fruit, followed by currants, black fruit, cassis and plum. Medium tannins, with flavors of vanilla and black fruit. Finishes nicely with red fruit and vanilla dominating. 89-90 pts.

Very smooth, big, full palate, this one tasted more extracted, but went well with savory grilled chicken, beans and rice, and veggies.

On the lighter, bright side of the style range with its medium bodied, red berry and spice dominated character. I'd drink this on the young side.

Vinturi'ed and decanted. Good fruity tastes. Drank over 2 days. Was as good or better on day 2.

Average in every respect. Might be better in 5 years but who will wait that long?
