  • I honestly didn't remember what this was, but "blind" had commented that it reminded me a little of a white Burg, but with the viscosity of a viognier or other Rhône white. Well looking into my purchase note I can see that in fact it is a chardonnay/viognier blend, which is pretty interesting, and a good reason for me to have bought a couple.

Light golden color from the side, but more of a straw yellow looking down into the tilted glass. Nutty aromas, along with yellow apple, pineapple, caramel, vanilla, and some of the flambéed top of crème brulé. Sounds oaky I know, but it's actually quite nice and complex. As I said, pretty viscous and full on the palate, with medium acid and finish, and flavors of lemon, pineapple, herbs, and saline. This is pretty banging for the $15 sale price (really wishing I got more than 2), and solid at the regular $20-25.

  • This is really interesting, reminiscent of a piña colada, but not in an overwhelming tropical fruit sense. Definite notes of coconut, with just enough tropical fruity acidity to balance nicely, but not take center stage. A bit of vanilla giving it roundness. I don't know if this will hold into Day 2, we'll see. A very pleasant, unique wine.

  • I actually haven't tasted this wine, but I noticed that James Halliday only gave it 82 points. I don't believe I have ever seen him rate an Australian wine under 92 points. If he gave it an 82, it must taste like vomit.
