Nice QPR, but if you're looking for a modern Super Tuscan, this isn't it. This is more "old world" -- dark fruit and tar with gripping tannins. On day two, much smoother and the fruit is more evident, so I'll give my remaining 2 bottles more time and see what happens.

Really nice bottle for $13, and I think the high scores are influenced by the amazing value, but I don't think this is a 91 or a 92. Dark fruit, a bit of licorice, and gripping tannins (a bit too gripping to lift it above a 90). It may get better over time. I have a few more to test the theory.

My first Italian syrah, filled with the bouquet of tar and blackberries and a palate that contained supple tannins with a full bodied finish. Could not mistake it for anything other than a syrah, this has a solid QPR.

Berry barnyard mushroom nose. Needs some airing time to moderate the tannins. Palate of earthy berry plum, with green tobacco and a mild peppery finish. Bright acidity on top of silky texture.

Too tannic and a bit astringent on first night (maybe give it until 2014 before trying again). Second night - very smooth tannins, loads of fruit, silky mouthfeel. 91pts great value.

Decanted 45 minutes. Anchovy, black raspberry, savory meaty aromas, black plum, tarry blackberry jam and liqueur, wet clay, and floral edges on the nose, which is clearly Syrah. Tart black cherry juice palate, sweet vanilla, very good concentration, with freshly cut green herbs contributing freshness and tannins. No doubt this will benefit from 2-3 years, or even just a 2-3 hour decant. 91+

This is good wine. No yet smooth enough to be a great wine but that may come yet. Regrettably, I only have one more left. Wish I had bought more.

Wow, totally unexpected from a $13 bottle of wine. Dense dark berries with a long finish. Had I only known, I would have several cases.

Prominent earthy berry nose. Simple sweet, dense and fruity on the with just enough tannin to give it some grit.

Blackberry and plum, tobacco, violet and herbal notes. Overly tannic at this point. Nice nose. Needs time.

Hint of cherry with a fairly fruity bouquet. Decanted it was much smoother than expected.
