At Dinner with John Kirk and his guests in Woods Hole. Flanksteak (again). This was very good, very well developed balanced syrah with northern rhone density. Great finish. Went very well with meal. The 2011 that we also had was a bit fizzy. But still reaonably drinkable. I suggest drink and enjoy - dont risk this going down!

W flank steak (after the 07 tablas creek esprit did not respond). This is good, fruit, balance and finish syrah. Yummy and the wife like it very much. Good solid syrah, works well with flavored flank steak. Yummy.!!!

A really nice cracked pepper note runs through with tar, black raspberry and coffee notes. This is an interesting wine in a good place for drinking now.

This didn't need much coaxing to come out and was singing after only 15 minutes open. Very dark maroon color with a brilliant shine, no sediment and clear, average legs. Profound cassis and raspberry compote, bramble, light smoke, dried meat, fig, and flowers on the nose. As powerful as the bouquet is, the palate dances gracefully in the mouth with a tinge of acidity and soft tannins that leaves any bombastic thoughts behind. This restraint is why I still love McPrice wines and have dropped from the Herman Story list. I find the more elegant approach delivers a more interesting wine. Rich, but not sweet. Voluptuous, but not heavy. And after all that to contemplate, there are nice earthy elements to expose some Larner distinction. No impression that it will improve - drink at will. 5+12+17+8 = 92
Big rich nose of dark chocolate, black and red fruit, herbs and spice. Palate is full bodied with a bright and racy profile. Very polished and smooth across the mid-palate. Medium+ finish.

Popped and poured at restaurant. Attractive nose with crushed red and black fruit and smoked meat prominent. Creamy mouthfeel. Plenty of fruit, but also layers of dark chocolate and some pepper on the finish. Delish.
