really nice, a big wine - thick and rich, in a really nice mountain fruit kinda way, some grip still left but the tannins have receded, some nice acidity still there - the wine is alive (tho i wouldn't call it bright), mouthfeel is really rich and concentrated, fruit is very evident - cherry, pomegranate, currant... i also get some of what i think of as apricot nose / taste which i often get on the big Shiraz... ready to drink for sure but not over the hill in any way (in contrast to some other notes)

I was stunned. Still very much alive. Great fruit, nice balance with still sturdy backbone of soft tannins. Tasted a bottle a couple of years ago and it must have been going through a dumb phase because it was nowhere near the full bodied Spring mountain Cab that it was today. Nice blackberry, black stone fruit, a little anise and some lavender along with some subtle smoky oak. My last bottle and was expecting this to be a little past its prime but was mistaken. Nice bottle!

Unfortunately, this one time star was past its prime. Opened and decanted for 1 hour prior to consuming. All of the hints of a large, mountain fruit-based Cabernet were there but only in muted tones. We will not make this mistake again.

Really fantastic wine. I'd tasted this first with the winemakers on release, loved it then and bought a case to lay down. This was the first bottle opened since then and it lived up to my expectations. Full bodied, deep dark pure color, and absolutely integrated, balanced and refined. Dominant fruit flavors were blackberries and plums with amazing overtones of vanilla, light oak, lavender and just a hint of smokiness. Very sophisticated and complex without being at all intimidating. Served this bottle with other wines at a dinner party and it was far-and-away everyone's favorite of the night.

WOW! Easily the best bottle of the night. I had been sitting on 3 bottles and was waiting for the right time to open and try a bottle of Sherwin. This was just amazing. A very well-rounded, smooth wine. With 2 left, now the problem is when to open the next?

WIML92,NOWA,WS88 Tasted October 15, 2005 at home with a dinner of Grilled Ribeyes. Opened and served immediately in Spiegelau Authentis Magnum glasses. Purple color in the glass, clear hue throughout. Loads of black cherries, plums, currants and a dash of smoke on the nose carries right through to the palate. Silky tannins and palate pleasing acidity make this wine a real treat to drink right now. Can be served right now from the bottle without decanting or likely held a few more years if desired. One of the real gems of the vintages. Recommended.

This is really good. Nice and smooth with enough weight and fruit and that mountain spice to die for.

Over bearing Syrah squashes all underlying fruit. Past it's prime. Drink or turn into sauce
