Lots of VA. Really bright and fruity upon opening. Delicious except for the weird VA. Calmed down a little over the next couple days. Left about 8 oz in the fridge for a little over two weeks, poured and let it come up to cellar temp. Wow, what a difference! Next bottles I will open, pour a little off and re-cork for 2-3 weeks. Great CdR at that point.

VA prickles the nose and tongue. Extracted but not overripe blackberry fruit followed by bitter-edged garrigue and tapenade notes. Very primary. I found this a somewhat disjointed mix of rustic and modern. I'm not surprised many found it better on day 2 (after the VA dissipates, presumably). Could possibly improve with more age.

not sure about this one... i think i'll like it more tomorrow. strong dark fruit, that dark dirt smell... but just didn't mesh together well. have a feeling it will get better after a day.

A bit too much alcohol when I opened the bottle but improved on the second day, with the scent of wet dark dirt starting showing thru. Would drink again as an everyday table wine but I think the 2007 has reached or past it's prime.

When 1st popped this way over the top in my opinion. All of the stuff I generally love i.e. raspberry, potting soil, soy, underbrush, anise etc. But the extraction was in your face and the alc was showing a bit. Not overtly bad but too much for me and not what I want outta CDR. Now on day two it was a different story. The fruit and alc had integrated. So maybe this just need more time.....much more time!

Dark ruby red with aromas of dark fruit and oak. It was balanced, dry, full bodied and a little acidic. It had flavors of cherries, herbs and pepper. The finish was medium.

Dark ruby color. Earthy red fruit nose. Tastes of raspberry, cherry, earth, and some toasted oak. Good freshness. Fruit forward finish with a very deep earthiness.

Aromas and flavors of cherry, a little raspberry, and light oak. For some reason I expected more from this, but I still like it. Rather short finish, but initial flavors are good. ($13)

Nice ripe blue-blackberry fruit; juicy, medium body, good balance, velvety mouth; nice herbal note, light fresh tobacco-leaf finish with drying sticky tannins. A concentrated, fairly rich CdR still with good typicity for the appellation.

Medium dark red-purple color. Barnyard and earth on the nose. Earthy, almost manure on the palate, with winter fruits lingering. (This is the strangest tasting note I've ever written for a wine I liked...). Long, pleasant finish. Classic Cotes du Rhone. Seems like it might get better with a little time.

Robert Kacher Tasting (Taj, Boston MA): Some spice. A little more serious then the Brunel preceding it. I'd give this some time before trying. Good stuff.

Very flavorful the first night and a great QPR. But, faded fruit and flat by second night. Drink now and do it on Day 1.

Aromas and flavors of red raspberry with a little smokiness. A good dose of acidity makes this very lively.
