  • $12. Next stop on my quest to remedy my rosé overbuy last spring and summer... this one's not bad, not particularly great. Perhaps my favorite so far from the many rosé I bought from Garagiste in 2013.

Medium dark peach/red, certainly toward the darker end of the spectrum. Not cloudy with slight brilliance. Bright nose, slight notes of some sort of perfumed jelly candy I'm remembering from being a kid. Can't quite put my finger on it.

Medium acidity, medium weight. No rosé bitterness or astringency here, which is quite nice. Dry, but with a bit of sweet cranberry fruits and more of that jelly candy. Pleasant, refreshing finish. Not particularly complex.

Drink through mid-2014. Would buy again.

  • Fresh, mineral and cranberry nose. A little astringent though. Would have been better in the summertime.

  • Very interesting wine. Dry yet fruity. Complex layers of minerality and acidity. Orange peel, cranberry and graphite. Nice chewy finish.

  • Darn you, Rimmerman! Another Garagiste disappointment. Why I keep falling for it I'll never know. This is drinkable but not interesting or exciting at all. Bone dry at least, but very little going on on the nose or palate. Compared to even the most basic southern French rose's (like Vielle Ferme) it brings almost nothing to the table. In France, you would find this wine in the grocery store on the 2-3 Euro shelf.

  • First bottle corked. Needs time to open up. At first tasted like a cheap Nebraska red wine; not good. After being open for 1/2 hour started showing concentrated red fruits, which made it a decent quaffer, but it's really missing acidity and minerality. My least favorite rose I've had this year, but it's also the cheapest.
