Wonder fully earthy minerality, graphite, forest floor underly succulent dark brambly fruit. Unfiltered with lots of sediment but that just makes this wine more charmingly rustic. Great value.

Nicely balanced in that it has ripe good fruit while still having ample acidity and tannins in a style that is still restrained and food friendly. Medium body with a touch of earth and graphite to remind you that it's French. Great QPR at $10.

I've been enjoying the Mas de Guiot Grenache & Syrah blend for a couple years but now I've found a new love -- the Cabernet - Syrah blend. Beautifully dry without grippy tannins. Balanced from beginning to end. Medium-to-full-bodied with dark berry, chocolate, brambles and earthiness. A fabulous food wine that will satisfy many palates. Braised and herbicious pork, lamb stew, or beef steaks would all be wonderful choices. It even went well post meal with very dark chocolate. 13.5% (D6.5, F 5.5, SoPo)

Very dark red. Heady currant fruit, black olive, and earth on the nose, which develops a welcome cooler blackberry aspect with air, along with a subtle suggestion of graphite. Sweet and dense with fruit, but less fun to drink than the Grenache/Syrah, with its lively, garrigue-y personality.

A nice Kacheresque Languedoc, complete with a subdued amount of new oak, a lot of New Worldish heft, yet with a French sophistication. I don't drink a lot of wine like this anymore. The Cab and Syrah are both there, with the Cab maybe winning out. Tannic on the back end. I decanted this figuring that was needed but it absolutely fell apart within a little over an hour. For me a pass.

For a basic Vin de Pays this was excellent. Highly extracted, fruit nose of red berries and a little oak. To taste, forward, dense and with ripe fruit. Nothing lush and low acid about this though. While the level of extraction might be New World this is very French with grip, tannin and backbone. This is good now but I think would age well for 5 years or more. A real gem at a very affordable price.

Still kicking, although it was a little bitter at first. Next day or two much better.
