  • Another great bottle of this vintage, nose is driven by spice, tobacco , bit of saddle leather and cedar mingled with red fruit.
In the mouth this is super polished, the oak is perfectly integrated with the fruit, notes of caramel and macerated blueberry mingling with an acidity on the balsamic side of the spectrum , lovely wine really on point this evening...sure this has potential for another few years but with 2 hours in the small decanter it was perfect tonight.

  • Spain (Home): Reductive. Nose with dairy product and bread, dark fruit. On the palate there is nice concentration with dark red fruit as the most prominent.

  • Head to head with a Tondonia 1995, the CVNE was more fruit driven, more solar, more intensity. Two very different type of wines, the tondonia was a nose wine the CVNE was more pleasurable in the mouth but seemed still young, still comfortably on its plateau

  • PNP into Galateo Burgundy glass (“No” day): Garnet with bricking rims.

Tobacco leaves and cigar box notes. Mushroom and sou bois on the nose. Caramel notes too. Tertiary notes but remain very precise.

Nicely acidic and consistent flavours with the nose.

De color rubí rojizo de capa media, oscuro, algo cerrado. Reflejos grandinos, sin mucho brillo. Borde anaranjado, estrecho.

Aromas de fina reducción, mucho cuero y manteca de cacao, especias orientales (cúrcuma, clavos). Suave, sutil, cremoso, avainillado.

A saber...

  • Euro-Themed Lunch - Spanish Riojas (Donato Enoteca, Redwood City, CA): Excellent, complex nose. Cherries, herbs, smoke. Palate is a little bit thin.

  • Nose was somewhat closed, even with decanting, but this was terrific on the palate and had a nice finish. Allow at least one hour of air before you drink!

  • This wine had a great nose, we choosed not to decant it. Still lots of fruit in it we could have waited a couple years before opend it. But it was great anyway.
