Just a beautiful nose: tobacco, leather, oak and faint berries.
Tastes like the aroma, one of my favorite wines. Fruit is there but faint and takes a back seat to the other flavors, very light mouthfeel and pretty good dryness still for a merlot that will be turning 12 in about a month. Absolutely love this

So damn good. Deep garnet Nose: menthol, baking spices, vanilla, cinnamon, old leather, and a hint of sweet strawberry perfume. Black licorice,
It is light on the bodied side, but there is a lot of substance: a smoky black cherry, faint sweet strawberry overpowered by the dark chocolate bitterness and smoked toasted dark taste that envelops everything, providing the backbone is impressive and ability to juxtapose complementary flavor profiles that may be different but they come together in an 11 year old Merlot that is probably entering the golden years after the prime. Kind of like when your grandpa continues to impress you with his ability to constantly stay sharp in in in

I love to continue to add to these tasting notes because it is nostalgiac reviewing and revisiting one of my favorite wines of all time.
Darker purple in the middle, with some burnt red/garnet edges. The darkness is starting to fade a bit and more red is starting to show through.
Nose: wet cement, wet stone, old dried tobacco, cedar, bit of graphite, well treated old leather. Bit of a mint leaf blackberry sorbet deal going on here at the end, like when you go to a fancy restaurant and order dessert.
This is all to say that although the secondary and tertiary elements play a bigger role in this wine than they once did, the fruit is not entirely faded and I actually like exactly where it is at. Just a slight berry reminder.
Mouthfeel is kind of light but heavy in its consistency as your can really taste the unfiltered aspect of the winemaking. Very little tannin left but the finish lingers for a while and is still plenty dry, like a grape optimo, with a bit of a smoky bitter finish to balance everything out very nicely. Dark chocolate cocoa syrup hangs around in the finish to bring all the elements together.
It’s not a super complex wine but it is not a boring or “empty” merlot and I appreciate something different with each new bottle.

Ruby’s/ garnet edges. Blackberry pie, blackberry jam, baking spice, dark plum , vanilla and oak, white pepper, stewed strawberry slight mint leaf. First sip is pure, shockingly fresh for a 10 year old merlot. Incredibly silky tannins and fruit is still present, with some plum mint leaf and cacao. Fantastic structure and good acidity. Milky mouthfeel, blackberry and black tea. Dark flavors.

I was never a big fan of Merlot but I got to admit this unfiltered Merlot is something else.Hints of brownish in the color denoting some evolution but I believe it could evolve for at least more 3 or 4 years. Explosion of dark fruits, jam, chocolate. Extraordinaly well equilibrated, very soft tanines and perfect acidity. Last a little bit of body and complexity but has a good finish. One of the best Merlots I ever tried...

Rasberry vanilla. Tannic and spice: bell pepper and black olive. Oddly a peppermint undertone, yet nice. I think a late open.
