Even a Chambolle turns out kind of Gevrey-like in the hands of Denis Mortet. Kinda dark, very juicy, loooong aftertaste. It is a really pretty burgundy and drinking surprisingly well now.

This wine is typical of Mortet's style which I my book is a compliment. Lots of depth and for the year also concentration. I would keep for some more years since it will develop further and probably also be entitled to a higher score. It is less typical Chambolle and represents a darker less immediately accessible style of Chambolle which probably boil down to origin of Mortet and his way of making wine. In addition I see a number of other Chambolle wines which are redefining the normal characteristics and this is a trend we will have to live with.

Musique & Vin Wine Tasting (Château du Clos de Vougeot): Tasting, brief note. Black cherry and berry with some roast meat notes. Comes across as much Gevrey as Chambolle right now, but with rugged edges middle to finish.
