Brought to a restaurant. A dining companion pronounced this an impressive balance of light and heavy. I think I get what she means. Hugh alcohol. but very easy drinking; the flavors tending toward lighter red fruits. Lovely aromatics. An interesting vintage of this Zin.

We opened the 2011 Jackass Hill And a 1983 Chateau Haut-Brion at Cuistot. The Jackass was the wine of the evening and paired perfectly with the Classic Cassoulet Toulousain rich with duck, lamb, and sausage.
If you have the opportunity to enjoy a bottle of Jackass Hill, don’t miss it.

Deep purple color with a bouquet and flavor of raisins and brambles with some dusty pepper in the finish. Very high alcohol content, which marred the balance, and along with the raisin taste made for a rather mono-dimensional wine.

Paired this with a ribeye. Sweet, sappy, and pure - this was just wonderful. I have to be in the mood for this kind of wine, and when I am it doesn't get much better than this!

vaguely disappointing. A nice enough, normal, middle-of-the-road zin, but nothing like the Jackass Hill flavor profile we were hoping for.
