Nose still has some richness and dark black fruit (think blueberry compote or leather) but the nuance is fading fast. Blueberries again on the palate and a lot of rich velvety flavors though a bit mono dimensional. This wine is devolving. If you have it, drink it now. It won’t be good for more than a year or so and maybe not even that long. Already becoming disjointed. Hey, it was delicious in its day, can’t complain

Popped and poured. This is a dark-red wine with some modest sediment at the end of the bottle. On the nose, I get blueberry, bacon fat, some heat, subtle flower scents, and ash. In the mouth, the wine has medium fruit with good offsetting acid and a chewy finish. Overall, this wine is in a good place. It is more restrained than other Jaffurs SV wines I have had yet still has lots of interesting aspects. 90 points.

Wow! This is probably the best Jaffurs I have had. Rich, plush, silky smooth. Dark black fruits with notes of black olive and fine integrated tannins. This is a special wine that's drinking perfect right now. Well done Craig and Matt.

Drinking very nice now. Prominent pepper and anise notes. Sweetens ever so slightly with air, but a very dark, dense Thompson. Really hits its stride with about an hour of air. Just spot on tonight. Will go many years yet.

Nose is lush with blackberries and bramble. Front is slightly tight but blueberry and blackberry are solidly present. Mid palate the wine is neutral but there is delicious fruit on the finish with solid acidity and hint of tannin to add complexity. This wine seems quite fresh even being 6 years in the bottle. Many years left on this one but drinking fine now.

Best of the '11 Jaffurs I've had so far. It has really has opened up from the bottle a year ago. Lots of pepper, tar, anise and dark, sweet, tart fruits. Very Northern Rhone ish. Popped and poured. Drink or hold.

Reinforces the importance of aging a bit for this wine, which is built to do so. 2011 at release a couple of years ago was tight and a bit uninspiring, but just coming around now, and will offer some surprises over the next decade or so. Red fruit, white pepper, some spiciness and notes of wild cherry emerge from this cool-climate site, under the helm of a master of the varietal and a great winemaker. Finish is long and tasty.

This might be an off bottle. Muted nose with blackberry and some alcohol. Taste is dark and rich with a bit of spice and heat.

Floral, dense, but all in balance. Entering early prime window.

Getting use to Acidity In These Syrahs From Santa Barbara. Nice fruit and enjoyed with pizza.

Nose is intense sweet road tar. Unmistakably Thompson Vineyard. Much riper and sweeter than any Jaffurs Thompson I've had in years. Delicious.

Consumed at at cellar temp: 60°-65° F. Friends don't let friends drink red wine at room temp!

decanted 8 hours and had with Thanksgiving prime rib. Acidity a little too high for me. Good but not great.

Young. Needs at least a couple years in the cellar.
Showed best on day 2.
