Montille Corton Charlemagne 2010 Honey, rich and layered, nuts on the palate, quite intense and full bodied for a white. Nice. Good concentration. 94/100

Straw coloured. Citrus, stone fruit, savoury notes too. Fills the mouth with flavours carried from the aromas. Good intensity through to a long finish.

Corton(-Charlemagne) study (Chicago, IL): This was a little more white grapey than I remember it being, but it's still a super delicious bottle of chardonnay Fairly ripe and rounded, without too much reduction. This has the breadth I'd expect from the vineyard. Great acidity and balance now, but there's still room for development.

Sunday blinds (Chicago, IL): Lemons, matchstick, and nut skins on the nose here -- this is all a good prelude to the palate and you know what you're going to taste is going to be pretty damn good. And it is! It's not the broadest and most opulent wine, but there's a lot of power here to give breadth, and ample acidity to give depth. This is my kind of chardonnay.

Valentines with the SLDS - February 2018 Tasting: Lemon, peach, graphite and mandarin. Well balanced on the palate, the fruit shows some ripeness but the acid keeps it in check well. Good texture and great length. Really tasty wine.

Lemon, flint, white flowers, minerals. It's fine boned, balanced. Needs some consideration. It takes time to put on a bit of weight (day 2). Screams white burgundy. Lovely.

Clean nose, very primary and limited aromatic spectrum. Tight, medium bodies, the material is present but lingering in the background. It is only a couple of hours after opening that the wine revealed its true structure, acquiring density and this creamy texture that lifts it to another dimension. Length is OK. Wait...

A clear step up from the '11. Good precision to both the nose and palate. Attractive mineral depth here. Will undoubtedly improve with more bottle age. 93+

Domaine de Montille Vosne Romanée Malconsorts Lunch at La Paulée (1760 Restaurant, San Francisco): Magnum. Also pale color with a glint of green. Lovely citrus and a twist of pineapple. Medium weight, full of soil, average acidity. Definitely more interesting than the 2011, but it lacks the creaminess and intensity I'd expect of Corton Charlemagne. Oddly, the Puligny Premier Crus were better than these 2 Cortons.

From memory. Tropical notes, apples, honey suckle. Creamy mouthfeel but with plenty of acid and structure. Really great bottle. Can drink now or wait.

Reductive aromatics more pee than matchstick, but enjoyable clean palate.

Wines for the Acker Merrall Bicentennial Auction (The Pool - New York NY): Walk around tasting. From magnum. Lots here, but seemingly very shut down. Very good length, but not particularly forthcoming. Needs more time.

A standout for me of the whites sampled at our Lenoir dinner. Stone fruit, minerality, and a light touch of citrus.
