Strong black raspberry along with black cherry and vanilla notes on the nose. Between medium and full bodied (14.5% ABV), but with quite impressive balance. Open 90 minutes ahead of time, but could've easily used a bit more. Black cherry upfront along with hints of red cherry behind, leading to black raspberry which provided depth. Mildly tart notes show up in the back along with moderate tannins and acidity. Vanilla and mineral accented finish. This wine is coming together quite well, but it's not quite in final form. A bit more time should allow the oak/vanilla/tannins on the back and the finish to integrate a little more. It should also lead to some additional complexity through the middle as the expressive fruit becomes even more so. For a weaker vintage, this is an impressive wine which may even score higher in another year or so.

Drinking fantastic at such a young age. Slightly tart cherries and strawberries. Long finish. Easy drinking. I'm not sure what it will taste like in a year or two, but why wait? 93+
