This was a bit heavy, but not necessarily in an international style. Ripe fruit, ink, some spice, but not much, if any, oak and it was balanced with a decent acidity. I've not had much from the area, so I don't know the style, but this was not so heavy or over-oaked that I was disappointed. Perhaps better for a cold night with some red meat involved. Rebuy: maybe.

Dunkle Früchte, cremig-samtige Textur, pfeffrige Gewürznote. Sicherlich eine der besten Auftritte dieses Weins, dieses mal auch ohne dekantieren. PLV gut (€ 8,60).

Decanted for ~1 hour. Nice dark berries, integrated acidity and a good spicy/mineral component, that you would expect form a southern french red. Not much tannins, no oak, no remarkable texture. It's nice to drink, tasty, but nothing special. For € 8,60 there is definately better stuff to buy, especially within that region.

Quite different now. Creamy, silky texture. Herbs and pepper, a little prune. More spicy than fruity, but nice to drink (85 P.). I left some for the next day, to see how it develops.
On the second day, the spicy, peppery component got stronger. Really nice southern france red wine (86 P.). Will probably get better in the next years.

Dark, oaky, heavy. Bottle opened 10 minutes before drinking, without decanting. I think this was a mistake. It opened up a little over the course of the meal, but not much. I think it needs decanting of at least 30 minutes or more. By the way, the Mövenpick catalogue says it is Grenache, not Syrah, but otoh I don't know for sure.

Round and polished, black cherries and blackberries. Hint of pepper. International style... Tastes like it could be from anywhere.
