  • So this was brought over to my place consume for a gathering...and wasn't. So I am not sure how much this wine is--pretty sure its under $10 (probably around $5). Ok, the person who brought said it was a great bottle of vino...so lets give it a shot!

Popped and poured (after slightly chilling)

Appearance: Light....not Pinot light, but average for a sub $10 wine.

Nose: is actually the best part of this wine--not great, but pleasant. Some blue/red fruit, rhubarb, and a touch of spice. A little alcohol comes across, but not much--just enough to notice it. Smells correct for the varietal. Nose fades after time.

Palate: This is where I would call the wine a 'one trick pony.' Even then, not sure that this would even 'show.' Its thinner and one dimensional. The heat, sugar, and tannins stand out in this wine as separate components. Not well integrated, and on the end of the finish there is a sugary note that is cool in a geeky way (reminds me of Marshmallow Peeps), but really...this wine is a dry red for those with a sweet tooth.

Last Words: One trick pony Grenache--it could be a crowd pleaser or could make a Sangria. However, for me, this 'horse' wouldn't finish in the money.

  • De la bonne Garnacha chaude et ensoleillée. Bon candidat pour la semaine à 12$.

  • Hard to complain about the price (under $6), but not much here. I'm not a fan of grenache, but I didn't really get much varietal notes here. Fairly fruity/sweet. Good for the masses.

  • Décent, mais à peine. Sur-extrait.

Bon RQP.

  • Borsao Selección 2012 is bright cherry. It has violet rim, thin legs and medium-high robe.
The nose has a medium-high intensity, with ripe red fruit and hints of menthol and violets. It´s herbaceous, and it shows a little bit of minerals.
The palate it´s fresh and it feels like liquor.

  • Clear, deep purple colour with inky legs. Clean, medium+ intensity youthful nose with aromas of cassis, ripe strawberries and liquorice. Dry, medium balanced acidity, medium ripe tannins, medium integrated alcohol, medium body and medium intensity aromas of ripe strawberries, cassis, red cherries and liquorice. Medium- finish. Good quality wine, balanced and fruit driven, without complexity or elegance, but well made and without defects. Drink now, but it would evolve a bit in the next two years. Somewhat better than the last vintage, good QPR.
