  • (No notes.) Intense and well structured. Opens up well and is impressive with its secondary characteristics, but this should continue to improve over the next 20 years.

  • Dark ruby. Classic Ridge nose: dusty, soft cranberry and raspberry, pungent oak, tar, black pepper, dill pickle. Medium acid, soft but persistent tannin. Terrific fruit and a long bracing finish, this old guy was on point. Bottle #2 of three.

  • This bottle was a pleasant surprise. Still inky-dark, vibrant, chalky, black pepper nose, and finally the tannins have resolved. Delicious.

  • First Tuesday Ridge Petite Sirah Vertical at Chuck's House. Brick color. David thought he detected some brett. Possibly - there was a horse sweat note to the nose, but it seemed to blow off. This wine was quite tannic, but well balanced. It was the group's least favorite of the night, but I preferred it over the '86 Devil's Hill and '89 York Creek. Still not in the same league as the '88 and '89 Devil's Hill and the '71, '74, and '90 York Creek. (15/20)
