Nicely perfumed. Lovely, dense red and black fruits on the palate which progress to a nice long finish, with a hint of stems. Shows it’s 14% alcohol a bit but this doesn’t distract. Has a hint of sweetness but finishes refreshingly dry, thanks to smooth soft tannins. Great bottle.

Drunk at home with friends to accompany venison. Notes from memory, nothing written down at the time. This is my last of the vintage. Showing age, but still drinking well. Light ruby colour. Good fruit levels, strawberries, raspberries. Medium length. Soft and mellow. Very enjoyable.

Garnet with slight bricking at the edges, and long legs , the nose shows smokiness, cherries , spices -maybe a hint of cinnamon, rosemary, and mushroomy sous-Bois quality. The mouthfeel is creamy and velvety, with acidity still present and some alcoholic heat ( 14 per cent!). On the palate , you get Maraschino cherries, cranberries, and cocoa. Mature and rich and a few years left .

I was disappointed with this wine. Over-extracted; unbalanced; and lacking the acidity and terroir that makes a great pinot great. Maybe I waited too long to drink this wine? I have some 2014 Dog Point and hope that it shows better than this vintage.

Medium garnet colour, bright and clear with some browning evident. On the nose, cherries, spices and some earthiness. Some heat in the mouth, quite complex for a Marlborough pinot, medium long finish. Well made wine, probably at or just past its best at 6 years.

Best of New Zealand wine lunch (Donato Enoteca, Redwood City): Medium minus ruby. Slightly developed (makes sense in hindsight - this was 2011). Bruised red cherry. Ripe attack with slightly jammy strawberry. - medium plus body - feels 14% (correct) - baked carrot - some yeastiness - slight toast - oak? 10% new French? (Yes! Unlike the 2012, the 2011 had some oak.)
From the producer Alcohol 14.0% pH 3.56 Acidity 5.4 g/l Residual Sugar 0.2 g/l Maturation Eighteen months in French oak barrels a small portion of which is new.
Not a fan of this. 8.0

Starting a bit jammy and onedimensional, but growing with air, this wine surprised me with complexity, purity and even a touch a cocoa. My friend Ronald made a good choice with this wine. Drink now, don't wait.

Sometimes I worry about Marlborough Pinot lacking weight and having not enough fruit to counter-balance the acidity. On the nose, the acidity lends it freshness. Nice red cherry flavours on the palate, no black fruits, slightly light-weight, clean, not rustic or chewy, ending in a nice acidic finish. Nice wine.
I'll leave it in the fridge for a few days to see how it develops.

Good nose. Decent effort but not for the long run. Drink now. The wine fades within 30 min in the glass. Advise against decanting. (A glass at Ortolana restaurant, Auckland)

Decanted. Almost identical to previous notes. Bright cherry and cranberry palate, with earthy herbal overtones, very nice acidity, light tannins and good length. Second day it lost its edge and my interest. Rating based on day1

Medium crimson with a petal-pink rim. Aromas of intense strawberry and cherry, both on the ripe, almost sweet side. Elegant structure with fine grained tannins and purity of fruit. Persistent on the palate with a long-lasting aftertaste.

Theatre of Wine Pinot Noir Tasting (Theatre of Wine, Tufnell Park): Herbal-edged cherry fruit and just a hint of alcohol on the nose. Very ripe (after the Fourrier) with a cola cube note but finishes dry. Better than previous Dog Point Pinots I’ve tasted; a little more transparent. Touch of heat at the back of the palate but still quite more-ish.

Big, robust, deep flavoured Pinot. Needs food.
Up against a aged Yarra valley, yarra wins out with finesse & elegance.

Pleasant nose of strawberries and cherries. Palate has a good amount of fruits and some meaty umami notes. An enjoyable bottle, good qpr.

Pleasant but unremarkable, Bright strawberry fruit. Tastes more like a good Napa or Sonoma Pinot than the darker cherry I like from some NZ producers.

Beautiful new world pinot. Has all the requisite earth, cherry, red fruit and supporting acidity to sustain interest. The 2012 is even better.
