  • Prior bottle was 10 months ago and this wine remains in a very good spot. Nose shows peach, apple, tart orange and minerals with pineapple becoming more and more prominent as it warms. Medium bodied with white peach and white apple upfront and pineapple, yellow peach and mango through the middle. Underlying both is what is still very good acidity, but not quite as vibrant as previously. Nevertheless, the contrasts between the two sets of fruit notes, bridged by the acidity is still the highpoint for this wine. Backside shows tart citrus notes (orange, lemon and lime) along with mineral notes through the finish. Drinking well now with many years ahead of it.

  • Golden orange nectar of ripe tangerines with a light touch of honeyed sweetness. Fantastic to the bottom of the bottle.

  • Prior bottle was 13 months ago and this wine continues to show quite well. Nose is very similar to prior bottle with peach, apple, tart orange and mineral notes with some pineapple starting to creep in. Medium bodied with the same combination of white peach and apple upfront along with very good acidity, lending tartness and that enjoyable "crunchiness" to the white orchard notes. Seemed a bit more accessible than previously, but continued to reveal additional nuances the longer it was open. Mid-body continues to be dominated by the contrast between the white peach and apple and the richer notes of golden peach and pineapple. Tart orange, lemon, tart lime and acidity mark the backside through the finish. The interplay between the various fruit notes, the tart qualities and acidity made for an interesting and pleasurable bottle. Should continue to develop along these lines and I'll probably open my last bottle in Summer 2021.

  • Initial whiff of petrol and slate from the glass was reminiscent of a very young Spatlese. Granted this one is probably nearing adolescence. Lots of peach, apricot and stone aromas and flavors. A good acidic core as well to balance a wine that sits on sweeter end of the spat spectrum. Nice long finish with notes of lemon drops and pineapple.

  • Prior bottle was just over 10 months ago and my notes remain quite consistent. Peach, apple, tart orange and mineral notes on the nose. Medium bodied and showed its best after about an hour open. Closed initially, it really began to shine and show complexity with the additional time. White peach and crunchy apple upfront with very good acidity. More depth through the middle with golden peach, white apple/pear and background tropical notes. This increased depth worked quite well with the tart orange, lemon and other citrus notes, acidity and mineral qualities on the backside. The acidity is still quite vibrant and while not electric, it provides excellent structure and contrast. This wine should continue to develop slowly with a peak of complexity and integration still to come. Next bottle for me will be Summer 2020.

  • Prior bottle was almost 10 months ago and this wine continues to improve. Peach, tart orange and mineral notes on the nose. Medium bodied and took about an hour to open up and integrate and showed best on the chilled side as opposed to cold; much more expressive. Peach and apple upfront that showed more depth and elegance the longer the wine was open. Mid-body had very good density and brought in tart orange, pineapple and more gold-focused peach notes. Very good acidity, along with tart lemon and citrus notes towards the back. This wasn't the electric acidity of a young riesling, but rather, excellent structural acidity that when balanced by the depth of fruit this wine possesses, leads to a more complete whole. The combination of acidity, fruit, complexity and density bode quite well for the future. Still feels like it's on the upswing with additional potential with more cellar time.

  • Prior bottle was nearly 20 months ago (May 2016) and this wine remains in a great spot with additional upward mobility. Peach, tart orange and slate/stone notes on the nose. Medium bodied (8% ABV) and opened at 45F, warming to 50F and was most expressive as it warmed. Rich and dense peach and apple upfront; white fruit moving towards gold. As it hits the mid-body, picks up some tropical notes (tart orange and pineapple) along with very good acidity and more tart, citrus notes towards the back. Acidity is still quite strong and especially at the lower temperatures, serves to mask the fruit to some extent so it comes off with great density, but concealing some of the complexity. Has the depth and acidity to continue to improve over the next 5+ years easily.

  • Refreshing! Paired really well with spicy Indian Food. Fruity profile and some depth.

  • Frozen peach, citrus and strong slate/mineral notes on the nose. Medium bodied with wonderfully vibrant acidity. Shows white peach upfront along with apple and backed with orange and hints of other tropical fruits. Very good length and mineral notes on the finish. The highpoint of this wine was its acidity and the balance with the fruit. There's a lot of acidity here, but always in balance with the fruit and that's what made this such a great bottle. The structure the acidity provides allows the fruit to come off as deep and rich, rather than sweet. If you like the acidity driven style (which I do), this wine is accessible now. If you prefer the more nuanced, fruit driven style, it's probably best to wait a few years for the acidity to meld a little more into the mid-body of the wine. As this wine ages, the acidity should soften and I expect even more fruit complexity to become evident.
