Night 1: No rating. Just coravined a glass. Not enthused by the taste (tired) but I've never smelled a wine with such a truffle aroma. Will revisit. Night somewhat later. Popped the cork. Very earthy nose, still a bit tired and threw off a lot of sediment. Is this an old style barolo? Nice with food, but not sure I enjoyed. Comparable: Kenny Lofton at the end of his career.

My bottles are actually 1995 vintage. Earthy, smooth, better with every sip. Lots of sediment but really delightful overall. The pleasure of drinking well aged 19 yr old Barolo is a very fine pleasure indeed!

Very curious start...the nose was very funky for 3 hours or so. Very nondescript flavors and bouquet. Then, at about the 4 hour mark after double decanting, the wine exploded with fabulous earth tones with truffles and mushrooms. There was a great, rich mouthfeel. It had a long, luxurious aftertaste that was great with the dry aged NY strip we had with it. It was an interesting counterpoint to the 2001 Gaja Barbaresco we also had. The bouquet was more subdued and the attach was slow, but the finish was fantastic. The Gaja, in contrast was more powerful at first but had a very limited aftertaste.

Gorgeous, ripe, with body and tannin to spare

As terrific as the last bottle was disappointing. Wonderful, ready to drink, balanced. A treat. Comparable: David Price.

delicious barolo in full form - earthy, a little anise, tannins are present but balanced.

Lots of sediment but just a beautiful wine with a long finish. Both bottles were absolutely delicious. And it would be fine to keep aging.

A tough masculine nose and the palate is a bit burly and foresquare. Tannins also a bit rough.
