This exceeded expectations. Bought for a mere £27 in 2007 the nose was more forward than expected from earlier comments - slightly spicy but with the soft vegetal undertones I enjoy in mature burgundy. There was little sense of 'green' - in the main the palate was well-balanced and the promise of some warm earthiness was well satisfied. Not a blockbuster but a most enjoyable and satisfying bottle with a tasty aged medium-rare ribeye at home on a Saturday night.

This has been in my cellar 9 years since purchase. Inky dark color with slightest clear rim; nose a bit murky with dark plummy fruit, Vosne spices, just slightest hint of coffee and not a hint of anything green; broad, ample palate with decent balance, the acidity fairly firm but rounded out by nice rich fruit. Fairly long finish. Solidly secondary at this point, its fullness should carry it well forward for many years.

This was a lot better than I was expecting - good vineyard, tough year. Tannins pretty well resolved. You've still got this green character and not a ton of fruit but it worked really well with food.

Delicate and fairly appealing nose, strawberries and raspberries in the initial taste but fruit fades quickly and leaves a slightly acidic, thin aftertaste. It's not a bad wine and slips down quite easily, but is somewhat unremarkable. Better with more air.

Appearance. Transparent. Garnet. Mature. Nose: Intriguing. cake spices and coffee Palate: Medium fruit. this wine is about the velvety, though furry tannins. a little hollow in the mid palate. Quite short.
Looking forward to trying this at 10 years of age when the tannins are further resolved and the flavors evolved.

Initially, there is some reasonably fresh fruit on the palate, but there is a slightly nasty taste on the finish, which seems to be a common fault with the 2004s. Not particularly pleasant, but at least it wasn't corked like another bottle of this batch tasted recently.

Some maturity on edge, forward nose, nothing special - MB on the palate, some vegetal flavours but nothing elegant about this wine. Reasonable effort but disappointing for the price - £26 probably need to drink up before it collapses.

3/28/2014 - colmanstephenson Does not like this wine:
Nose was stewed and musty.
Palette had plenty of substance and flesh.
Not great
May have suffered from 2 trips across the Atlantic.

Little to recommend here, a rather mean pinot and fairly expensive.

A rather pale colour, with a touch of brown; light, reasonably perfumed, with a slight bitterness on the finish; not a bad effort in a difficult year.
