Cellaraid Grand Tasting (La Pepa): still going strong despite it's years, with good balance of berry fruits, spices, coffee, leather, and tea; very nice!

Amazingly younger than its age by at least two decades. This has aged Burgundian red stewed fruits and tea leaves with ethereally sweet strawberry juice. Well aged and effortless

Welcome Back Kelvin! (Kelvin and Joyce's Place, Bishan): An old charmer. Served blind, this was clearly the oldest wine of the night, but we had no idea just how old. It had a very mature nose which showed tertiary notes of herb, bramble and dried-leaf alongside stewed red-fruit scents reminiscent of preserved cherries and hawthorne berries, all surrounded by a little halo of dried flowers. Still pleasant, but a bit tired I thought. Surprisingly though, the palate was a lot fresher than the nose hinted at, with more lively red cherries and sweet berry flavours showing over a dried, herby undertone. There was still a little patina of fine tannins and lots of bright acidity, so that the wine had an almost sour cherry tone as it slid past a decently supple midpalate into a finish of dried leaves and rose peals and a kiss sour plums that drifted away gently. I thought this was clearly some way into a slow downhill decline, but it was certainly still enjoyable. In fact, it is a testament to how well this has held up that most of us thought it was from the 1970s or 1980s. My own guess was a 1978 village. Nice stuff.

Cellaraid Vintage Wine Tasting at Delicacy FNWM (Delicacy Food & Wine Merchants): it has a refined nose of blackcurrants and olives, and flavours of berries, cherrries, and soy. lasted very very long! honoured to have a chance of trying this very old wine! great wine!
