Garnet. Soft smoky aroma with a bit of heat, peppercorns, cherries. Good juice on the palate, clear acids, some aromatics at the back. Long finish. A pleasing wine, nothing fancy, good with sausages. 50 + 15 + 16 + 7.

Notes after two hours open. Color is ruby at the core with a garnet edge. Clear, very slow legs and no sediment. Gorgeous, but soft bouquet of carnations, camellia, tobacco leaf, and Red Hots candy. There is no influence of heat/alcohol to the nose or mouth. The palate seems to be just entering its prime window with excellent harmony. Tannins are still a bit fuzzy, but overall this shows smoothly and with persistence. I'd estimate another good 2-3,years of enjoyment. Update from second night: still performing beautifully and even complimented a nice after dinner stogie.. At $20 or so, a real cellar defender. 5+11+15+7= 88

Last bottle, thought it nice and rich, really good with left over rabbit, sauced over pasta. Yum.

Excellent again. It takes a good four hours or so of air to calm down but then it shows many of the complexities and charm of the noble grape.

Captain, I'm going (mostly) with you on this one. (although 4 days on it was actually much improved)
Poliosis your review was spot on, just thought it deserved a higher score.
Fingers, I have absolutely no idea whatsoever which wine you were drinking!
West - harsh man. Just harsh.

Light with nice hints of rose and tar until the finish, which is harsh and alcoholic. Good candidate for spitting.
