  • Auction purchase. Still alive and well, surprisingly. Mature red fruit and spice. This isn't going to be holding up for a whole lot longer, but I'd estimate that well stored bottles have a couple of years of life left in them.

  • A one-off bottling that, according to Ridge, hails from two of Monte Bello’s smallest blocks, West Horseshoe and Young Foster, which ripened at the same time. Was part of the ATP program and sits more at the estate level than the Monte Bello level.

Cork crumbled upon opening. Drinking this wine was like seeing its whole evolution in fast motion. Started off a little musty which worried me, but quickly put on weight and pulled itself together into a lovely, mature, claret-style wine. Unmistakably Cabernet. After about 45 minutes it started to fade and lose freshness. Fully mature and drinking well but also time to drink up.

  • Tasted like mini-Monte Bello. Lots of eucalyptus on the nose and mocha on the palate. Started out a little thin but put on weight as it opened up. Way better wine than anyone expected.
