Medium to dark purple with a slightly garnet tinge. Cherry berry and earthy tones with tobacco. Pallet is sharp and acid fruit but with purpose. Quite a long finish with good acid and tannins.

Ripe black fruits, toasted vanilla pod, spicy tobacco and graphite nose. Palate echoed the nose with lifted acidity and tight structure. Entry is not well defined, transiting to mid-palate is a tad harsh, even after two hours in the decanter. A spicy blue fruits finish with dry tannins. Lacking some balance in the structure.

Apologies, this note has now been edited as my last note was for the wrong wine.
This wine had a deep plum colour to it, with medium clear legs. It had a nice fruity bouquet, but needed a bit of time and warmth to come out. The taste was either a bit simple for me or I just couldn't decipher it properly, and it was to quick for me to be able to explore. I don't think this was a bad wine, it just didn't suit me.

Most recent reviews are about 88 and that is how we saw it. Let it breathe for better than an hour, but it was still a little tight (young). Varietally correct without all the depth and complexity one finds in better Cabs, but this was still enjoyable. Prior vintages have been better. For $18-20 I would recommend seeing if future vintages turn out better and pass on this one; if you have some of this I would wait until 2017 and I think it will be more fully integrated.

Lots of blackberry and briars. Acidity and tannins both a bit heavy and coarse. Hints of violets and leather. Not a bad wine, but it seems to be trying too hard without achieving balance

Disappointing. We have always been impressed with Lapostolle, particularly for QPR. This is supposed to be there step up in terms of quality. It was anything but. Lifeless, undistinguished, it had neither the roundness and depth of a CA cab nor the expected spice of SA cab. I could not rec it under any circumstances. There was nothing bad about it; but there was nothing good about it either.

Bright red berry, blackberry, touch of underbrush that carries through to the finish. Fruit is a bit youthful or unripened. This became slightly juicer after it had more time with air but didn't change much.

Fresh, clean dark-berry fruits, leathery notes. acids and tannins balanced. Good young cab. Decanted for a few hours and drank over two days, pretty consistent throughout.

Try decanting as the acid and tannins dominate. Fruit is there but secondary.

Ruby-red, wooden and leather-scents. Medium-full body. Nice, smooth tannins, fruity notes, and good acidity, yet with a bit more alcohol than should.

A weighty Cabernet . Very dark with heavy tannins. Better with food. I paired with burgers on the grill. Needed an hour to open up

Pretty good cab; well structured, with a balance between tannin, fruits and oak. Nothing flashy, but great QPR at $15.
