A wonderful Syrah & Grenache blend from Paso Robles. Bold dusty dry brambly blackberry fruit, great southern Rhone types of spices and a nice tannins. Was a fantastic pairing with our smoked brisket and our favorite BBQ sauce that we need to import from Maryland.

This is a demonstration of the fact that Daou makes great non-Cabernet based wines... and the fact that Paso Robles is a fine place for Syrah and Grenache!

- Garnet color with slow forming legs and aromas of raspberry, licorice anise, violet and medicinal. It's balanced and has flavours of black pepper, blackberry, black currant and raspberry with a full body. Polished texture with a long finish - Decanted 1 hour. Big well structured wine. Deep finish, tons of berries, spice and richness.

Notes made on second day open. 60/40 Syrah-Grenache blend. Very dark ruby color, almost opaque. Clear, heavy legs and no sediment. 14.1% on label. Profound bouquet of boysenberry jam, carnations, butterscotch, fresh tar, and a little vegetal/herb mix. Brambly at the pop but that eased off with air. The palate is a pretty standard, hot and ripe Paso profile and despite that, I think the abundance of fruit portends that this should develop into something really nice in a few years. Was certainly more enjoyable on the second night. 5+12+15+9=91

Nice red with good structure, fruit and smooth tannins. Was able to cut through the fat of a seared duck breast. Would drink again.

Respectable wine that shows restraint and finesse for a Paso Syrah blend. Very enjoyable but not a complex wine. Went great with Lasagna
